Sometimes, the mind surprises us with extravagant questions that defy logic and plunge us into a sea of unexplored thoughts. 🤔 A bored mind might say, “Why do you think about such things?” But we, eternal seekers, constantly imagine and yearn for more. Therefore, today I bring a question that makes me ponder for days:
When the invisible man closes his eyes, does he still see?
Ah, paradoxes! I love paradoxes! They are like the spice of thought, don’t you think? 🤯
If we apply logical reasoning and let our imagination soar, we can conceive the existence of someone invisible, although this being would probably be blind since light would not reach their eyes but pass through them. Bam! The paradox is resolved before we can fully savor it. But, for the sake of argument, let’s suppose it’s 99% invisible; their pupils are semi-visible, so they could see. (Technically, even if one closes their eyes, they would still be “seeing”…) 👁️
Here comes the interesting part. You’ll see…
So, with the clarification that they can see, the paradox arises: even with closed eyes, they could see through their eyelids. Poor man, he can’t even sleep! 😴 On the other hand, if he can’t see with his eyes closed, you wonder what the invisible man doesn’t want to see, as everything is invisible to every man with closed eyes (like those boring minds I mentioned earlier).
This reminds me of an idea I had for a short video, of a man with the power to be invisible, but it only works when no one can see him… 💡
99% Invisible
And so we get to the heart of the matter. Let’s philosophize, weigh, and explore together. I invite you to discuss it in the comments! But, let’s remember that this is a design blog, so let’s bring it down to earth; 🧐
A well-made design, depending on its use, is 99% invisible. For example, how many times have you used a door and pulled the handle, only to discover that the door pushes? Then you wonder, even in anger, why they put that handle there? If we remove the handle, the user will intuitively push the door, making the design invisible. 🚪
Intuitive design is one that you can use “with your eyes closed” because it guides your brain to “think for you.” There’s no need to guess, no confusion, or the need to look for instructions. 🧠
What do you think about invisible design? 🫥
I like this theme, the invisible, one question leads to another, for example, fiction, psychology, philosophy, science, technology, thousands of angles to generate a conversation. 💭
- How would invisibility affect the identity of the invisible man?
- Could the invisibility of the invisible man be the result of some experiment?
- And if it were an invisible woman, how would she style her hair?
- What would you do if you had the power to be invisible?
- Would you use your invisibility for good or for evil?
I invite you to share those invisible thoughts and your ideas in the comments! 🗣️
