We are talking about 30+ distinct dog breeds, 20+ original product SKUs, custom packaging, witty copywriting, motion graphics, and a bespoke digital platform to house it all.
It’s a space where design meets a passion for dogs, creating a “tail-wagging wonderland” that educates clients on the power of branding while celebrating the bond between dogs and their humans. 🐾

Inspiration
The heart of this project beats for Dante, a beautiful Australian Shepherd/Cocker Spaniel mix. But it also carries the legacy of past companions: Suki the noble Akita, Mercurio the gentle Saint Bernard, and Kero the spirited Dalmatian mix.
This personal connection fueled the passion to explore branding for a dog-centric line. It was an exercise in empathy—understanding what “proud paw-rents” want for their best friends and translating that into a visual language.

This project is a labor of love that goes far beyond coding a landing page. It is a holistic design journey launched in the fall of 2024. The goal? To create a compelling brand identity that encapsulates the essence of pet ownership—joy, care, and excitement.
GUAU represents a complete creative pipeline executed by a single vision:
- Brand Identity: A bold, onomatopoeic name (“GUAU” is the Spanish sound for a bark) paired with a rich dark purple (
#3f1677) identity. - Product Design: Creation of three distinct lines—Food, Grooming, and Health—with over 20 unique items like “Crimson Surge” beef and “Ocean Breeze” shampoo.
- Packaging: Designing the labels, choosing the materials, and visualizing the physical product.
- Content Creation: Editing and color-grading footage of over 30 dogs, from Akitas to Corgis.
- Digital Experience: A user-friendly, interactive web interface built with HTML, CSS, and JS.
Theory
The design philosophy behind GUAU is “Emotional Color Mapping.” Unlike brands that stick to one color, GUAU uses a Chameleon Strategy. The brand adapts its visual atmosphere to match the specific “flavor” or benefit of the product being viewed.

- The Content Mountain: Writing unique, pun-filled copy for 20+ products (e.g., “Kibble that makes them dribble,” “Orange you glad your dog smells great?”) while keeping the tone consistent.
- Asset Unification: Taking stock footage of 30 different dog breeds (shot in different lighting conditions) and using Adobe Premiere and After Effects to color-grade and mask them so they look like they were filmed in the same studio.
- Packaging Diversity: Designing distinctive labels for Cans, Bags, Spray Bottles, and Jars that look unique but belong to the same family.
- Technical Integration: Ensuring the web code (VS Code) could handle the heavy media assets without sacrificing the “snappy” user experience.
Solutions
- The “Guau” Design System: A strict set of rules using specific emojis (🐶, 🦴, ✨) and hex codes to define every product category. For example, all Vital Chews use deep blues (
#071a3d) and the 💪 emoji. - Master Label Templates: Using Adobe Illustrator to create flexible packaging grids that could adapt to different container shapes.
- Narrative Copywriting: Instead of boring descriptions, every product tells a mini-story. Rose Drift isn’t just “Pork”; it’s a “picnic in a blooming garden.”
- Interactive Showcasing: The website was built to be the ultimate catalog, allowing users to virtually “pick up” the products via detailed modal views.

Known Bugs
- The main known bug is in the hero banner. The photo scroll is generating irregular spacing because the width is intended to function as an infinite image loop, which has proven difficult to implement correctly.
- UI theme colors can experience a brief delay when transitioning between sections.
- Rapid navigation may cause colors to persist from the previous section.
